Fish that are especially rich in the beneficial oils which are known as omega-3 fatty acids include mackerel, tuna, salmon, anchovy, sardines, herring and trout.

Fish oil supplements are available in capsules and liquids and include Artic Cold Liver, Salmon, Shark Liver and Krill and are often combined with synergistic vitamins, minerals, herbs and co-factors.

Two of the most important omega-3 fatty acids contained in fish oil are eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). Fish oil is used for a broad range of conditions, including the health of the heart and blood system, for lowering blood pressure or triglyceride/cholesterol levels.

Fish oil has also developed reputation as a brain food as well as being used to provide temporary relief of pain associated with arthritis.
